7th Grade Overview
As students reach adolescence, they become more independent when it comes to their education, especially when these students are attending online school. Acellus Academy recognizes the importance of fostering a learning environment that spurs curiosity and excitement around courses. We work with experienced educators to develop course materials that retain the attention of students and keep them asking questions.
Because students develop newfound independence in seventh grade, we recommend that parents consult their students when selecting online courses for the year. We offer seventh-grade level courses in the core subjects of mathematics, language arts, and reading, and history and social studies. In addition to these courses, students can take a variety of science and social studies courses that allow them to explore their personal interests. Visit our middle school course overview for the full list of subject options.
our Courses
Subjects Offered in Acellus Academy’s Online 7th Grade Program
Acellus Academy collaborates with teachers from across the country to create courses that are appropriately challenging for seventh graders. These courses are developed with careful consideration of hitting specific milestones that seventh grade students in traditional classroom settings are also meeting. We offer remedial and special education courses for students who need extra assistance so that students can progress through classes at their own pace.
Each course has key objectives outlined in the course description that students must meet before moving on to move advanced level courses. In seventh grade courses, students learn:
- Algebraic and geometric concepts and review basic operations from previous classes.
- Techniques for comprehension through reading literature written by authors from around the world as well as writing skills for various types of text.
- World history and geography dating back to medieval times through modern-day events.
Seventh grade students can select from several different science courses, including life, earth, and physical science. Remedial science courses are available for students who need extra help with understanding basic scientific principles. Our science courses use experiments to demonstrate concepts, allowing students to see these ideas come to life.
Since Acellus Academy was founded in Missouri, we offer a Missouri State History course to middle school students that focuses on the state’s history dating back to the early civilization.
7th Grade Course Structure
Acellus Academy courses integrate engaging video instruction and coursework with the Acellus Learning Accelerator to give each student a unique learning experience. With Prism Diagnostics and Vectored Instruction, students receive extra help when necessary and progress through units at their own pace.
Students access all course materials and resources through an easy-to-use student interface through the Acellus app. This app allows students to attend class and complete coursework anytime they have Internet access.

Vectored Instruction®
Filling Foundational Gaps for Student Success
As students are progressing through a course, sometimes they lack the foundational skills needed to successfully complete the material. If students are stuck, Acellus analyzes which foundational concepts they need to review in order to master the grade level concepts they are struggling with. Vectored Instruction is then prescribed to fill in those gaps, going as deep as required to rebuild their foundational understanding, allowing them to move forward in their education.
