What to Expect at an Acellus Academy Commencement Ceremony
By Acellus Academy | Aug 02, 2024 | Parent Newsletter
Attending an Acellus Academy Commencement Ceremony is a unique and unforgettable experience designed to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our graduates. From the moment you arrive at the IST Campus in Kansas City, you’ll be immersed in a day filled with inspiring activities, memorable moments, and the joy of shared accomplishments. Each element of the ceremony is thoughtfully planned to create lifelong memories for our graduates and their loved ones.
Registration:
Upon arrival, graduates and their families will check in at registration where they will be assigned an Event Host who will support them in navigating the day’s activities and answer any questions they may have.
Student Breakfast & Orientation:
Kickstart your special day with a hot breakfast and complimentary Starbucks at IST’s Catalyst Restaurant. Graduates will have a chance to introduce themselves and learn something new about their peers. This introduction is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow graduates and start the day on a high note. While this event is primarily for graduates, parents and guardians are welcome to join as well.
Acellus Store Pop-Up:
Showcase your school spirit with merchandise from the Acellus Store! The store will be open onsite with a unique collection of gear specifically designed for Acellus Academy alumni.
Cap and Gown Pickup:
A cap and gown rental is included in the graduate ticket and will be available for pick up at the onsite Acellus Store.
Honors regalia:
A white stole may be worn by students graduating through the honors pathway. Honors students with an outstanding GPA may also wear honor cords.
IST Campus Tours:
Take some time to explore the IST campus, tour the Acellus film studios, and see the world’s first hydrogen car. These tours provide a glimpse into the innovative environment that has shaped your student’s academic journey.
Cap Decorating:
Supplies will be provided for graduates to decorate their caps. Working alongside fellow graduates, this activity is a fun way to personalize graduation attire and make each cap unique. Parents are welcome to bring or donate additional supplies for cap decorating.
Graduation Memory Books:
Students will be gifted with a Graduation Memory Book to fill out and collect messages from their fellow graduates. To participate, students should bring a stack of printed senior photos, approximately 4″ x 5.3″ to exchange with their classmates. Similar to a high school yearbook, this is a wonderful keepsake to remember their special day.
Group Photos:
We will take group photos of the graduates. Students should wear their cap and gown for these memorable snapshots. These photos are a great way to capture the camaraderie and joy of the occasion.
Commencement Ceremony:
The official commencement ceremony begins at 10:30 AM in the auditorium. This is the moment everyone has been waiting for – seeing the graduates walk the stage, receive their high school diplomas, and celebrate their graduation from Acellus Academy.
As part of the ceremony, parents and family members will have the chance to come up on-stage and get a photo with their graduate!
For family and friends unable to attend in person, a live video broadcast will be available: LIVE STREAM »
Guest Luncheon:
Join us at IST’s Catalyst Restaurant for a delicious Guest Luncheon. Enjoy Kansas City barbecue and a variety of flavors at our grill and buffet. This meal is included with the guest ticket, and it’s a great way to relax and celebrate with family and friends after the ceremony.
**Please note that this is a ticketed event and a guest ticket must be purchased for each attendee. Availability is limited so be sure to reserve your spot today: RESERVE YOUR SEATS »
We are so excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with you and your loved ones. See you in Kansas City!
Hello! I am very pleased to hear about the commencement ceremony and all of the wonderful things that are going to take place, but I have a quick question: from what I have seen, Acellus only shows the GPA for the current courses being taken, and not the cumulative high school GPA. Where do I find the cumulative GPA?
The cumulative GPA will be listed on your student’s transcript. Please see the following tutorial for instructions on how to view the transcript: https://www.acellusacademy.com/tutorials/requesting-transcript/
Thank you!
How do I get my student into honors pathway classes and how do I know that my child is taking honors pathway classes? Currently, my son is taking AP computer science. I want to put my son in classes accepted toward his college credits.
You may select the Honors Pathway and map out a plan of study when setting up your student’s education plan: https://www.acellusacademy.com/tutorials/education-plan/
For more information about which courses qualify for graduation with honors, please see our graduation requirements: https://www.acellusacademy.com/graduation-requirements/
Is this available to schooled online graduates? My daughter is a senior with 3 classes left that she is near finishing but I know her “graduating class/year” is May 2025.
I thank you ahead of time for the most information you can provide me.
Yes! Students who graduate from Acellus Academy while studying online are invited to participate. Please see the following link for available dates in May 2025: https://www.acellusacademy.com/commencement/
My daughter is on the standard pathway, but is a straight A student. If she has an “A” average upon graduation, will she be able to get a chord to wear?
Students are allowed to wear honor cords based on their GPA. However, only students graduating through the honors pathway will be permitted to wear the Honors Stole. Honors cords may be purchased onsite. For more information, please see the following link: https://www.acellusacademy.com/commencement/
Can you put a video of the last graduation ceremony on the website?
Great idea! We will pass along your suggestion.
When are commencement’s held? Are they only in May or do you hold them twice a year? My daughter will finish her classes next December and so I am trying to figure out her Commencement date.
Please see the following link for a list of scheduled commencement dates: https://www.acellusacademy.com/commencement/
For each graduation date, when do classes need to be completed and approved? For example, in order to take part in the February 2025 ceremony when do classes need to be finished?
To allow sufficient time for processing your diploma, we recommend submitting your graduation application 30 days prior to the ceremony (or earlier). If your graduation application is received less than one week prior to the date of the ceremony, you may need to re-register for a later date.
